Lias stone has been used in building and flooring for over a thousand years, and can be found in manor houses, churches and cathedrals all over the country. Its strength and durability make it an excellent building material – and it’s sustainable too.
We have substantial reserves of blue and white lias stone, with a bed of grey lias that will aim to excavate in the future. Our Somerset Lias quarry has the capacity to produce over 15,000 sq m per year, using modern equipment that ensures a consistently high-quality product.
We were delighted that our Somerset lias quarry received the Stone Federation Great Britain’s Natural Stone Sustainability accolade in 2012.
